About Michelle
I’ve spent years watching what happens when somebody finds the way they want to say something.
I’m Michelle Lim, a public speaking and communication coach, facilitator and speaker based in Singapore.
My professional life hasn’t followed one neat communications pathway.
I’ve worked across events, hospitality, aviation, financial services, marketing, coaching, education, public speaking and organisational communications.
That variety has put me in front of very different audiences and, perhaps more importantly, taught me how differently people communicate when the context changes.
I’ve coached speakers across age groups, worked with young people developing presentations and ideas, facilitated workshops, spoken at events and worked with professionals on communication.
Across those environments, the same principle keeps returning:
Communication has to work for the person receiving it, not only the person delivering it.

My approach
Communication isn’t something you perform at people.
It happens between people.
That means effective communication requires more than confidence. It requires thought, awareness and choices about what to say, what not to say, how much an audience needs and what will help them understand.
When I work with someone, I want to understand the person behind the message.
What are they trying to communicate?
Why does it matter to them?
What do they want their audience to understand or take away?
From there, we work on developing the message, organising ideas, building a clear narrative and finding ways to bring it to life.
Voice, delivery, storytelling, presence and confidence all matter. But I don’t believe in polishing the performance before understanding the message.
And I certainly don’t believe everyone needs to become the same kind of speaker.
Some people are naturally animated. Others are quieter. Some communicate through humour, while others are thoughtful and precise.
Different personalities can communicate powerfully.
My role is to help people understand what works, recognise their strengths and make better communication choices while remaining themselves.
Experience & highlights
Experience shaped by different rooms, people and perspectives.
My work has taken me across classrooms, stages, workshops and professional environments. Each experience has shaped how I approach communication, coaching and the people I work with.
Over 10 Years in Public Speaking & Communication Coaching
Over a decade of experience coaching speakers across different ages, backgrounds and abilities. My work includes public speaking training, presentation development and individual coaching, helping people communicate with greater clarity, confidence and authenticity.
TED Summer School Communications Tutor | 2026
Communications Tutor for Immerse Education’s TED Summer School in Singapore, guiding an international cohort of teenagers through an intensive two-week programme. Supported students in developing their ideas, structuring their messages and delivering TED-style talks at their final showcase.
Speaking & Facilitation
Speaker at SG100 Voices From The Heart (2026), where I delivered The Promise. My experience also includes emceeing, facilitating discussions and engaging audiences across professional, educational and community settings.
Pageant, Image & Presentation Coaching
Drawing on my experience in pageantry, including Mrs Singapore Worldwide 2016, I’ve coached individuals in public speaking, stage presence, personal presentation and confident communication. My approach focuses on developing an authentic presence rather than teaching everyone to fit the same mould.
Cross-Cultural & Professional Experience
Born in Singapore and raised in the Netherlands, I spent much of my formative years navigating different cultures and ways of communicating. Combined with professional experience in Singapore Airlines, hospitality, education and communications, this has shaped my understanding of how culture, context and audience influence communication.
Professional Training & Development
MOE-certified instructor and ICF-trained coach, combining practical teaching experience with coaching-informed approaches to communication and individual development. My experience spans educational settings, structured training programmes and one-to-one coaching.

Beyond the professional
Different environments taught me different ways of communicating.
Moving between cultures meant learning to navigate different expectations, social environments and ways of expressing myself.
That experience has stayed with me throughout my professional life.
Working in aviation, hospitality, events and education further reinforced something I’ve come to appreciate: effective communication depends on context.
What works in one room may not work in another. The people, the purpose and the relationship all matter.
I think that’s partly why I’ve never believed in teaching everyone to speak in exactly the same way.
Let’s work on what you want to communicate.
Whether you’re developing your speaking skills, preparing for an important moment or exploring a programme for your organisation, I’d be happy to hear what you’re working towards.
